With all the (to us) very cold weather, the low pressure tire light came on in my car yesterday. It reminded me that the cold weather can dramatically drop the pressure in any tire–and when I checked the horse trailer today, the pressure was down by 5 pounds in almost every tire. I had just… Continue reading Check your tires!
Ten folks came to Andrea’s in Winter Haven for our January’s club lunch. Donna Fellers discovered that Rae’s birthday is tomorrow, and came with cake! It was a fine time with good food–and Andrea’s staff were very tolerant of our somewhat rowdy mob.
A few folks at lunch today decided that this weather is too good to pass up, so we’ve decided to ride Wednesday, January 11, at the Hampton Tract off Rock Ridge Road. Plan to ride out at 9am; contact Barbara Lassiter to RSVP. Ain’t retirement grand????

This Saturday’s ride (January 7) at Lake Louisa has a bleak weather forecast of thunderstorms and cold weather–a bad combination, considering the hour’s drive most of us would have. So we’re MOVING the ride to this Friday, January 6, 9:00am at Tenoroc. I know this will knock our working folk out from the ride, but… Continue reading We’re moving Saturday’s ride to Friday!
January is a good time to double-check your Coggins, permits, etc. to ensure you don’t get an unpleasant surprise when hitting the trails with an expired permit. Polk County’s “Special Use Permits” for equestrians to use the Marshall Hampton Reserve, Gator Creek Reserve and Sumica are free for the asking. Just call Lisa Padgett at… Continue reading Is your Special Use Permit expiring?
