Who we are: The Florida Sport Horse Club is dedicated to trail riding and the preservation of the many riding areas in central Florida. We ride most weekends throughout the year, are family-oriented and open to all breeds of horses. We are based primarily in Polk County, and were incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1988.

What we do: While our passion is trail riding, we also contribute to our community. Among other projects, we have assisted in placing water lines for the Lake Louisa equestrian campground, Colt Creek equestrian campground, and SWFWMD’s Ashley campground. We have cleared trails in many areas. The picnic tables in the equestrian parking areas of Tenoroc and Marshall Hampton Reserve were purchased and are maintained by club members. We have presented our horses at local events such as Circle B Bar’s “Water, Wings & Wild Things,” Tenoroc’s fishing tournaments, “Get To Know Colt Creek,” and Polk City’s annual Library Summer Program. We have participated in fundraising efforts for St. Jude’s and other groups, and donated money to homeless programs such as Lakeland’s Talbot House.
Where we are: Meetings are held every 3rd Monday of every month in non-COVID months at the Golden Corral restaurant, 4532 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland, FL in the private dining room. Come at 6:00pm for dinner and conversation! The meeting starts at 7:00 pm. We are based primarily in Polk County, but have members from all over the state. During COVID, we are conducting meetings once per month after a trail ride. Please see the Events listing for the most up-to-date information.
Our members have proudly ridden with other organizations on the Osceola Wagon & Trail ride, The Cracker Trail ride, The National Trail ride and in fund raisers for Shriners and St. Jude’s.
