Our recent heavy rains have done us no favors. Not only do many of us have issues mowing our pastures because of boggy ground and standing water, but the saturated ground is driving ticks higher–up into the taller grasses (that we can’t cut), bushes and even trees, where we and our horses can easily “acquire” them. And our arsenal of bug sprays are not particularly effective for preventing or killing them.
Here are 2 articles that may help you understand the nasty little blood-suckers and what you can do to protect you and your animals. We’ve also attached an identification guide, so you’ll know which of the ticks you may encounter. Good luck.
